The shape of a year on the plot.
Exact dates are agreed at meetings, and once fixed they go on the news page and our Facebook page. Permaculture workshops run monthly through the season too; see the permaculture page. If you’d like anything added to the year, come to a meeting and propose it; that is honestly all it takes.
- January
The plot rests; the committee doesn't quite. Accounts are drawn up ready for the honorary auditor.
- February
Last call for hedge work before the birds move in; the window closes at the end of the month.
- March ❀
The AGM, normally, with the first general meeting of the season straight after. Meetings then run roughly monthly to October.
- April
Sowing starts for the plant sale on Plot 30. Taken on a daunting plot? A good month to ask for an hour of power.
- May ❀
THE PLANT SALE — the big weekend of our year. Vegetable plants, herbs, flowers and the odd curiosity.
- June ☀
The solstice gathering; first held in 2026, and we liked it enough to agree there would be another.
- July ❀
A stall at Stannington Carnival, run for the community rather than the till; proceeds go to a local group.
- August
The barbecue: food on us, bring your own bottle. The hedge-work window opens again at the month's end.
- September ❀
The fuddle closes the growing season, produce competition alongside; Wonkiest Veg is taken seriously, which is to say not at all.
- October
The last general meeting of the season, and the autumn manure delivery arrives around now; first come, first served.
- November
Working-party weather: hedge-laying, tidying, and the bonfire if the year brings one.
- December
Quiet on the plot. The robins keep an eye on things.
